Item 7, Week 2: Room Divider/Screen

I’m not sure why I’m so attached to this thing other than it’s been with me ever since my best girlfriend from college gave it to me. She was moving out of her quaint bungalow duplex in Athens and clearing out her stuff. That was 1996 or 1997. I’ve been lugging this thing around ever since, if you can believe that. I love her and I love it because of that, not to mention that it’s an interesting decor piece in the right situation. I think I’ve dressed it and used it in about three dozen different ways in the time it’s been with me - room divider, privacy screen, decor base for a corner, storage coverall, holiday card display, etc., etc.

All that said, it’s time for it to go find a new home, so let me know if you’re interested. I’ve always thought it could be repainted to match a different color palette…

Yes, this last one is an odd shot. I was trying to crop out the piece of furniture on the right side of the room, but still show you the entire screen:

Could you use this item in your home or business? My yoga or massage people, perhaps?

FREE: King Mattress Set | Item 3, Week 1: Jan. 1-7, 2011

1/2/11 UPDATE: This item has been claimed! Thanks for all the interest.

We were offered a brand spanking new pillow top mattress set about a month ago by dear, dear friends of ours who happened to have an extra set from a house they purchased fully furnished, so we jumped at the chance for a new bed, while simultaneously thanking them… profusely. Having it delivered right before the holidays meant, however, that the previous set we had been using wouldn’t be dealt with immediately. Instead, it leaned against the wall in our guest room and just generally became a big space hog, making the guest room unusable at the same time. Needless to say, now that the holidays are over, it’s time to reclaim our guest room and get this big old mattress set out of here.

Here’s the set, completely blocking the one window in our guest room!

Our previous set, made by Sealy, has been good to us. It has always been protected by a mattress cover, was regularly flipped, and continues to be in good condition, but it is used, so I don’t feel right asking anyone to pay for it. Nevertheless, it’s a premium set and if you’ve a need for such an item, here it is. It comes with the mattress and the box springs. Here’s a picture of the mattress:

And the box springs:

Isn’t it clever how it even has nice handles on either side to make it easy for two people to move it?

Oh, on another note, I also feel the need to mention that my sweet brother-in-law - who comes nicely equipped with a big truck and an accompanying trailer - was the DIY delivery service for our new bed set. I was so grateful he was willing to drive it the 80 miles between its last home and its new one. Not only that, he did it in a light rain, which required heavy duty plastic wrapping and duct tape, and then helped Christopher Thomas unload it and bring it up a flight of stairs and into our bedroom. Wasn’t it generous of him to bring our new bed to us? My sister’s a lucky lady.

Here’s what the tag says:

“Sealy Posturpedic Super Premium”
“Crown Jewel Super Plush”

“No Morning Backache from sleeping on a too soft mattress”
“Sleep set designed in cooperation with leading orthopedic surgeons for maximum comfort and support”
