Watching the sun to see how many hours my pickle bucket containers will have in the spot I’ve chosen. Eight hours is ideal, but I don’t know if there’s anywhere on my property that I will have full sun. This spot seems likeliest, so I’m taking pictures and making notes on a sunny day where the light and shadows are obvious.

In 2011, we donated, sold, thrifted, trashed, or gave away seven or more things each week. in 2012, we are learning to container garden on our shady property. We also paint, clean, build, sew, organize and create, documenting our DIY projects in real time to share how we're designing our home to be more customized and personal to our family's needs.
